A. Overview
Mount Merapi, also known as Merapi or volcano has a height of 2891.3 m from the sea surface. As one of the most active volcano in Sumatra, Merapi has erupted frequently. Starting from the late 18th century until 2008 there are approximately 454 times melatus, 50 of them on a large scale, while the rest on a small scale by removing the sulfur ash.


B. Feature
Among the many mountains that exist in West Sumatra, Mount Merapi is a tourist attraction that is often visited by the tourists. Mount Merapi have a fixed point for the climber, making it easier for the climbers to make the climb. On this mountain, there is growing interest edelwis blooming around the slopes of the mountain, which adds beautiful view of Mount Merapi.
 
C. Location
Mount Merapi, located near the town of Bukittinggi, precisely around the District Agam and Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, Indonesia.
 
D. Access
Access to reach the Mount Merapi is fairly easy, considering it is situated not far from the central town of Bukittinggi and Padang Panjang. From Padang or airport Ketaping to Mount Merapi, it took about 1 ½ hours to get to the location. Meanwhile, if departed from the town of Bukittinggi took about 30 minutes. Transportation to reach the site can be reached by landline, can use public transport or travel. The cost of transport ranged between 15,000-Rp. 20,000 per person.
 
E. Accommodation
Location of Mount Merapi is not so far from the city of Bukittinggi and Padang Panjang. In view of Mount Merapi is close to 2 cities, tourists from out of town who want to linger in the area, to stay at the hotel on two city. Along the road to Mount Merapi, there are many restaurants serving various cuisine of Padang dishes that can cure the hunger of the tourists.
